Road Closure
Leamington Road will be closed on the evening of the 8th March 2021 between 8pm and 6am on the 9th March.
This closure is required to enable urgent carriageway repairs and associated works to be carried out.
Local Transport plan consultation
Warwickshire County Council’s consultation with residents is now live as the Council seeks views of residents and businesses to help refresh the Council’s Local Transport Plan.
The current Local Transport Plan is scheduled to go through until 2026 but is now felt to be outdated due to a number of factors, notably the shift in attitudes towards fighting climate change and the response to Covid-19.
The initial consultation will be categorised into five themes with residents and businesses being invited to give their views around them. These are:
- Environment: How the refreshed plan can encourage and promote sustainable travel
- Economy: How it will provide the infrastructure to attract and retain investment into the county
- Place: How it will help to create an attractive place
- Wellbeing: How the stress of being on the transport network can be alleviated
- Road safety: How road accidents and casualties can be reduced.
Following the consultation and analysis of its findings, Cabinet will be asked to approve the drafting of a revised plan which will also go to consultation before going to the County Council for approval prior to being published in 2022.

Site C planning
The permitted hours of site C are set out in condition 18 of the outline planning consent. Following reports from residents on social media the Parish Council has made enquiries and the contractors have assured us that they will adhere to the permitted hours of work.

Winter can be an isolating and lonely time for a lot of people, and this year is particularly difficult, but you can help. To mark Time to Talk day, start a conversation with someone about their wellbeing, and you can make a big difference.

Finally, we must pay close attention to our own wellbeing, and the wellbeing of those around us. Children’s Mental Health
Just as with adults, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and continued lockdown measures have affected our children. In a study conducted by The Lancet, more than a quarter of children (aged 5–16 years) reported disrupted sleep and one in ten (5·4% of children) often or always felt lonely.

Vaccine Scams
The following has been to us from Warwickshire Police:
“Nationally there have been reports of individuals targeting the elderly and administering fake vaccinations for a fee.
Regionally/Nationally we are also seeing fake emails being sent to the vulnerable and elderly purporting to be the NHS and asking them to click on a link to obtain vaccines.
They are then usually asked to provide a payment or bank details.
The NHS will never ask for payment or bank details from patients and I do believe the NHS send letters out for patients to book appointments for tests”.

Ryton Remembers
This week the borough council launched Rugby Remembers to encourage residents to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day safely.
In addition to broadcasting the towns remembrance service online, the borough council has designed Rugby Remembers posters for residents to download and display in windows at home.
